RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's cross country ran their first 8K of the season Saturday morning at the UC Riverside Invitational.
It was also the first career 8K for eight of the Anteaters' nine competitors, who combined for a 13th-place team finish.
Freshman Joshua Schuld led the group, completing the 8,000-meter race at UCR Ag/Ops Course in 24:49.7 (40th). Classmate Zeid Hussain was right behind him in 41st with a time of 24:50.2.
Freshmen Cameron Smith (25:15.5), Juan Sanchez (25:56.4) and Henry McClish (26:07.4) also scored for the 'Eaters.
Rounding out the lineup were freshman Joshua Ochoa (26:15.2), junior Christian Hernandez (26:39.4) and freshman AJ Sager (26:52.1).
UC Irvine will now have a 28-day layoff before returning to Riverside for the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 16.
