LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team posted six personal records on the first day of the Beach Invitational Friday at Jack Rose Track.

Junior
Tayla Crenshaw led the way in the throws as she claimed runner-up honors in the discus. Crenshaw shattered her personal record by over 15 feet with a toss of 164-02. She moved up five spots to No. 4 in school history. Crenshaw also placed among the top-five in the shot put (42-00) and hammer (165-07).

Senior
Brianna Villanueva paced five Anteaters in the hammer where she took third, coming in behind only USC's Joy McArthur and Karlee Freeman with a season-best 184-05. Villanueva also took fourth in the discus (158-08). Freshman
Kassidy Sani added PRs in both the discus (143-06) and hammer (144-02).

On the track, sophomore
Cathy Salazar-Gasca was third in the 1500m, crossing the finish line in a lifetime-best 4:36.88. Junior
Hannah Chau placed fourth at 4:41.38, while junior
Patricia Sanchez (4:47.01) and senior
Daisy Garcia (4:57.30) finished with personal bests.

Tess Mathes (2:20.81) and freshman
Alexis Alexander (2:21.03) both notched season bests in the 800m. Sophomore
Nikki Fulcomer also competed in her first career 3000m steeplechase, clocking in at 12:13.61.

UC Irvine continues the Beach Invitational tomorrow with the jumps, sprints, hurdles and relays. The field events are slated for a 10:30 a.m. start, while action on the track gets underway at 3 p.m.
