IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's water polo held UC San Diego scoreless in the first half and finished with an 8-1 win over UCSD, Friday afternoon at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
UCI improves to 5-2 on the season and hands the Tritons (3-1) their first loss in 2021.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Morgan Jones was dominant in goal, finishing with 10 saves and a 91 percent save percentage. She also had an assist and added a steal
> Piper Smith and Danielle Ayala each finished with two goals
> Ariana Bockstahler, Maeve Murphy, Jessica Newell and Kayleigh Schultz each added a goal
> UCI was 2-3 on powerplays while UCSD went 1-6
