Sienna Lyford posted a career-best fourth place finish at The Gold Rush that wrapped up Tuesday at the Old Ranch Country Club.
Lyford shot a final round of even par 72 that featured three birdies. The junior ended the tournament with a three-round score of 217 (73-72-72). She was third among tournament players in Par 4 scoring (E), helped by an eagle on the second round. Overall, Lyford had 38 pars. six birdies and one of eight eagles recorded over the two days.
The medalist was 12
th-ranked Allisen Corpuz who fired a 10-under 206 (69-71-66) and led No. 2 USC to the team title (864).
Lyford's fourth place finish is the highest finish for an Anteater since
Janet Yeo placed second at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Sept. 19, 2018.
Senior
Cameron Lee followed in 38
th place with a score of 237 (79-81-77). Freshman
Coco Yang finished in a tie for 43
rd with a score of 239 (77-82-72), while junior
Angela Bagasbas was tied for 47
th at 242 (88-82-72) and sophomore
Megan Yang was tied for 55
th with 248 (89-81-78) total.
The Anteaters shot a season-low 296 on Tuesday and moved up two spots to finish in a tie for eighth with Idaho at 929 (317-316-296). UCI's final round score was the fifth best of the day.
UCI will compete at the Gunrock Invitational March 1-2 at the Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento.
