UC Irvine Drops 3-0 Decision To Hawaii

Box Score IRVINE, Calif. – No. 8 UC Irvine dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 2 Hawaii (25-14, 25-13, 28-26) at the Bren Events Center Monday.

Hawaii (2-0) out-hit (.466-.138) and out-blocked (10.0-6.5) the Anteaters (0-2). The Warriors hit .634 (28-2-41)  over the first two sets.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>For the second consecutive night, outside hitter Joel Schneidmiller led the Anteaters with 11 kills
>Francesco Sani had a career-high 10 kills, three digs and a team-high four blocks
>Patrick Vorenkamp and Scott Stadick each had three blocks
>Hawaii was led by Rado Parapunov with 15 kills, two aces, five digs and three blocks. Colton Cowell hit .600 (10-1-15)

SET 1
>The teams traded points until Hawaii used an Anteater service error and a block to take a 9-7 lead
>The Anteaters would close to 10-11 on a Francesco Sani kill, but the Warriors answered with a kill and an ace
>Hawaii scored five straight, three on UCI errors to open an 18-11 advantage

>Hawaii broke away 13-8 on kills by Rado Parapunov and ChazGalloway and three UCI miscues
>The Rainbow Warriors had the final eight points of the set to win 25-13

>Leading 12-9, UH scored four unanswered to take an 15-9 advantage
>A 5-1 run by UCI, which included an ace by Joel Schneidmiller and a pair of kills by Francesco Sani plus one from Jonny Bowles narrowed the score to 15-17
>Two blocks each assisted by Patrick Vorenkamp sparked the Anteaters, closing within 18-19
>Trailing 22-21, UCI caught fire on a kill by Scott Stadick followed by a pair of blocks by Stadick and Sani and another Warrior attack error to get UCI to set point, 24-22
>Two Parapunov kills tied it at 24-24
>After trading points, kills by Spyros Chakas and another by Parapnov would clinch the match, 28-26
