Four Anteaters Honored on All-GCC Teams

IRVINE, Calif. – Four UC Irvine men's water polo players earned All-Golden Coast Conference honors, the GCC announced Tuesday.

Senior Casey Lynton headlined the group, earning second team honors while junior Zlatan Nikocevic and sophomore Harrison Land were named Honorable Mention. Tyler Padua was placed on the All-Freshman Team.

Lynton earned second team honors for the second time in his career. He was also named on the second team in 2019 and earned honorable mention accolades in 2018. Lynton has started and played in every game for the Anteaters and tops the squad in points (86), assists (38), and steals (45). He is second in goals scored with 48 on the season. He leads the conference in steals and assists. Lynton has amassed 119 career goals.

Nikocevic was recognized by the conference for the first time in his career, earning honorable mention accolades.  He leads the Anteaters and is fifth in the conference in scoring with 49 goals. Nikocevic has started and played in every game this season and is second on the team with 32 assists.

Land was named honorable mention for the first time in his career after being named on the All-Freshman Team in 2019. In goal, he started 19 games and amassed 144 saves, which ranks fifth in the conference. He is also fifth in the GCC in save percentage (.439). Land has also grabbed 24 steals and dished out four assists.
 
HL


Padua earned All-Freshman Team accolades after a breakout first season with the Anteaters. Padua led the 'Eaters with 47 exclusions drawn and has 20 goals and 12 steals so far. He was named the Big West Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in UCI's upset win over No. 5 Pacific. Padua has played in all 20 games.

UCI, the No. 6 seed, will play third-seeded UC Santa Barbara in the first round of the GCC Tournament Friday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. The GCC Tournament is being held at Anteater Aquatics Complex. For tickets click here.
