Men's Tennis Set for LMU Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team wraps up its 2021 fall tournament slate this weekend when it heads to Los Angeles for the LMU Invitational, Nov. 12-14.

The Anteaters are set to square off against Utah, Utah State and host Loyola Marymount at the LMU Tennis Center starting on Friday.

UCI was last in action at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in Malibu, California, Oct. 22-24. Emmanuel Coste and Riccardo Roberto led the way, advancing to the Round of 32 in the singles main draw. In doubles, the UCI pairings of Coste/Roberto and Matthew Sah/Thomas Smart both made it to the Round of 16.

Through two fall tournaments, Sah leads UC Irvine with four singles wins. Coste, Roberto and Noah Zamora also have three victories each.

In early October, Coste and Roberto represented the 'Eaters at the ITA All-American Championships. They were the first UCI student-athletes invited to the prestigious tournament since 2017. Coste was 63rd in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings, while he and Roberto also came in at No. 53 in the preseason doubles rankings.
