February 29, 2020

Zani Meaders broke her own indoor 400m school record for the second time in 2020 at the MPSF Championships in Seattle on Feb. 29.

"Zani is a very driven individual holistically so it is no surprise to any of us that she had the success she did indoors," said head coach Jeff Perkins. "We were very excited to see her dominate her own school record at the biggest indoor meet of our season, the MPSF Championships. Zani has such a bright future within our program so we are excited to see her continued development."

The MPSF includes 22 women's indoor track & field teams from the Pac-12, Big West, Mountain West and West Coast Conferences.

Meaders ran a sub-55 second race at the conference meet, clocking a lifetime-best 54.81. She was one spot out of scoring as she came in ninth in a field of 53 runners. Meaders was the top performer outside of the Pac-12 schools.

Earlier in the year, Meaders established a then school-record 55.70 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational (Jan. 25). The Chino Hills, Calif., native was also part of the 4x400 relay that registered a program-best 3:48.68 at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
