IRVINE, Calif. – Nominations for the 2021 UC Irvine Athletics Hall of Fame are now being accepted.Â
Fans are invited to nominate former student-athletes, coaches and administrators HERE. Â
Nominations will be accepted until November 20, 2020. While a class will be named during this athletic year, the date and location for the public induction ceremony has yet to be determined due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
Candidates for nominations must have completed their UCI athletic eligibility at least five (5) full years prior to September 1 of the nomination year, have had significant accomplishments during their UCI career as well as completing their intercollegiate athletic career (for athletes) at the University.Â
The Hall of Fame was reinstated last year, bringing in its first class since 2007. Jane Chin (women's golf), Mike Evans (men's water polo), CoCo Goodson (women's soccer), Jerry Green (men's basketball), Jayson Jablonsky (men's volleyball), Kris Roberts (women's volleyball), Vince O'Boyle (head coach track & field, cross country), Rod Spence (baseball) were formally inducted last February.
The UCI Athletics Hall of Fame began in 1983 and has 77 inductees over 17 different sports. Four individuals have also received the Alumnus of Merit Award, which was previously announced in conjunction with the Hall of Fame.
