IRVINE, Calif. – No. 7 UC Irvine took advantage of Stanford's serving woes, lifting the Anteaters over the ninth-ranked Cardinal, 3-1 win (25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21) at the Bren Events Center.

With the win, UCI improves to 3-1 on the year.

Alexandre Nsakanda put up a second straight career-high with 16 kills on the match, hitting .387 on the match. AJ Faille posted a career-high 12 digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Outside hitter Joel Schneidmiller added 11 kills in the win
> The 'Eaters out-blocked Stanford 8-3 with eight total blocks by Scott Stadick
> Stanford produced 28 service errors on the evenings. 24 came in the three sets lost with just 4 in the set they won
> Four Stanford hitters had double-digit kills on the evening led by Eric Beatty and Jaylen Jasper who had 15 kills apiece
> The 'Eaters outblocked Stanford 16-16 with 8 alone by Scott Stadick

TURNING POINTS
FIRST SET
> The Anteaters led throughout the first set falling behind just once at 2-1
> Four straight points put the 'Eaters in front leading by as much seven during the set at 18-11 and the final score of 25-18

SECOND SET
> The second set was the most hotly contested with 18 ties and 9 lead changes
> The largest lead came at 15-12 for UCI after a Sean Dennis kill
> Alexandre Nsakanda service ace at 23-22 helped it to set point and JB Kam put the set away with a final kill
> UCI had the best hitting percentage a .367

THIRD SET
> Stanford found their stride in the third set keeping things close before surging ahead at the end scoring 10 of the final 14 points
> UCI's largest lead in the set was 11-5

FOURTH SET
> The match was tied eight times in the fourth set the final tie coming at 17-17
> Stanford led briefly from 11-10 to 17-16
>With the score tied at 20-20 a kill by Kam and a Cardinal attack error helped UCI to a 22-20 lead
>The Anteaters would not relinquish the lead and win the match 25-22 on a Schneidmiller kill
