LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Jon Polos had a career-best four goal performance as the 10th –ranked UC Irvine men's water polo team defeated Pomona-Pitzer, 13-11, Saturday morning at the MPSF Invitational.
With the win, UCI moves to 6-3 on the season. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 5-4 overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Polos' four goals were a game-high. He also had a team-best five exclusions drawn
> Jason Evezard tallied a hat trick, scoring three goals
> Ian Fleenor and Bryant Joudrie each finished with two goals
> Grant Chiponis and Casey Lynton added a goal apiece

> UCI started to pull away scoring three-straight goals from Fleenor, Jourdie and Polos, respectively to take an 8-5 lead at the half
> All three goals came in the final four minutes of the quarter
Quarter Three
> Evezard continued the scoring frenzy for the 'Eaters firing in a goal at 7:25 to give UCI a 9-5 lead
> PP answered with two-consecutive goals to make it 9-7 (4:32)
> Polos and Fleenor would score back-to-back before the Sage Hens added two goals, 11-8
> With one minute left, Polos fired in an extra-man goal to make it 12-8 at the end of the quarter

> PP outscored UCI 3-1 in the final frame but the 'Eaters were able to hold on for a 13-11 win
> Polos added another goal in the quarter at 4:22
