IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomores Sebastian Bautista and Christian Hernandez will represent the UC Irvine men's cross country team at the NCAA West Regional Friday, Nov. 15, in Colfax, Washington. The men's 10K race is slated for a 12:30 p.m. start at the Colfax Golf Club.

Bautista and Hernandez, who are competing as individuals, will be going up against a tough West Regional field that includes nationally-ranked Stanford (No. 4), Oregon (No. 6), UCLA (No. 10), Portland (No. 11) and Washington (No. 14).

All nine NCAA Regional meets will take place on Friday. The top two team finishers of each regional automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. The top four individuals who are not on a qualifying team will also advance to nationals. The remaining 13 at-large teams and two additional individuals will be selected by the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee.

• This is the first out-of-state trip of the season for the Anteater duo. It is also their first 10K of the year.
• Sebastian Bautista and Christian Hernandez both competed at the 2018 NCAA West Regional in Sacramento.

LAST TIME OUT
• UC Irvine had five runners compete at the Big West Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2.
• Sebastian Bautista continued to lead the 'Eater pack with a 33rd-place showing, covering the 8K course in 26:07.62.
• Christian Hernandez posted a time of 26:38.53 (42nd).
• Omar Adel added a personal-record 27:10.20 (48th), while Jhamani Long (27:10.64) and Jason Messner (30:50.74) rounded out the group.
• Michael McCarthy and Nick Krohn did not compete due to injury.
