Sanders Named Big West Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Jordan Sanders has been named the Big West Player of the Week for her performance in the first two games of the season the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
This is Sanders' program-record fourth weekly award.
Sanders led UC Irvine to its third-straight season-opening win last Tuesday. In the 79-77 victory over San José State, the 5-foot-11 forward finished with 16 points and a team-best eight rebounds. She then dropped 23 points in 24 minutes played at No. 6/7 Oregon State in the first round of the Preseason WNIT. Sanders made a career-high three 3-pointers, while adding five boards and one block against the Beavers.
On the week, Sanders was tops on the squad with 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. She shot 41.5 percent from the field.
The Springfield, Missouri, native was also selected as the College Sports Madness Big West Player of the Week.
Sanders will be heading home this weekend as the Anteaters continue the Preseason WNIT in a four-team consolation bracket in Kansas City, Missouri. The 'Eaters will take on Davidson in the first game at 3:30 p.m. (CT)/1:30 p.m. (PT) on Friday, Nov. 15. They will then face either Portland State or Kansas City on Saturday, Nov. 16.
