STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team wrapped up the 2017-18 campaign with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Pacific Regional Wednesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

UCI, which was seeded 12th, placed ahead of No. 9 seed Kennesaw State and No. 13 North Dakota State with a 54-hole score of 872 (290-293-289). The Anteaters' 1-over 289 in the final round was their best of the tournament.

Kansas claimed the team title at 20-under 844 as they edged Stanford by one stroke. Iowa State (847), seventh-ranked Alabama (849) and Oregon (852) rounded out the top-five, and will advance to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla., May 25-30.

Senior
David Kim (72-70-74) and junior
Ramiz Jamal (69-76-71) paced the 'Eaters as they tied for 30th at even-par 216.

Kim shot a 2-over 74 through the final 18 to drop 12 spots in the standings. It was his first above par round of the week. Kim, who birdied two of his final three holes, capped an impressive season in which he had five top-20 finishes, including two runner-up performances and a third-place showing at the Big West Championships. The four-time All-Big West selection also ranks third among UC Irvine's all-time leaders with a 72.23 career scoring average.

Jamal recorded a 71 (-1), marking his second-straight tournament with two rounds below par. He was even at the turn and was able to get to 1-under with a birdie on the 6th. Over the course of the three days, Jamal led the Anteaters with 11 birdies.

Senior
Ryan O'Connor concluded the year with UC Irvine's best round of the afternoon, and one of the best rounds of his collegiate career, at 2-under 70. He had four birdies, matching his total from the first two days combined. O'Connor saw a significant jump in the standings as he climbed 15 spots into a tie for 50th with a total score of 220 (74-76-70).

Sophomore
Jonathan Kang tied for 54th at 221 (76-71-74), while senior
Jonathan Young tied for 72nd with a 229 (75-77-77).

Norman Xiong of Oregon was individual medalist with a 15-under 201. He was one shot ahead of Stanford's Brandon Wu. Charles Corner (UTEP) tied for third at 9-under 207 and secured the individual bid to the NCAA Championships as the top finisher not on one of the five qualifying teams.

This was the Anteaters' 14th NCAA Regional appearance. They advanced to the postseason after winning the program's eighth Big West title two weeks ago. Â
