Karl Apfelbach and 
Scott Stadick led No. 3 UC Irvine to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) win over No. 9 CSUN at the Matadome Saturday.
UCI didn't seem affected by Friday night's two hour and 20 minute match, posting the 10
th sweep of the season. The Anteaters go to 19-7 overall and 5-3 in the Big West. CSUN falls to 13-10 overall and 3-5.
Apfelbach hit .524 with a match-high 12 kills and just one error in 21 swings. He also four block assists and an ace.
Stadick was a force at the net with eight total blocks, including a career-best four solos. The sophomore moved in to UCI's career top 10 in solo blocks with 48 in just 194 sets. He followed Apfelbach with nine kills.
Freshman 
Joel Schneidmiller recorded seven kills and five total blocks, while 
Aaron Koubi had five kills and 
Dante Chakravorti racked up 32 set assists. 
David Parker had a match-high seven digs.
UCI dominated the net, out-blocking CSUN 15-2. The Anteaters out-hit the Matadors .338-.127. Both teams had three aces and 21 digs.
CSUN jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set with the help of five UCI errors. UCI climbed back in to the set, getting down by one (7-6) on a block by 
Karl Apfelbach and 
Austin Wilmot. The Anteaters would score the next three on a pair of Joel Schnedmiller kills and another block by Apfelbach and Wilmot, 9-7. Three consecutive Matador errors gave UCI the 13-10 advantage. A kill by Apfelbach and a CSUN attack error forced a Matador timeout with the Anteaters leading 18-14. 
Scott Stadick closed out the set with three straight solo blocks to give UCI the victory, 25-18.
A 4-0 UCI run was capped by two Schneidmiller blocks to put UCI up 5-2 in the second set. Another block by Schneidmiller with the help of 
Austin Wilmot gave UCI the comfortable 19-13 lead, but the Matadors rallied, tying the set at 19-19. A CSUN service error was followed by a service ace by 
Tucker Pikula to put the Anteaters back on top 21-19. UCI would not relinquish the lead with a Schneidmiller kill giving UCI the 25-23 win.
Kills by Stadick and Wilmot plus a Matador attack error and a Wilmot block gave UCI a quick 8-4 lead in the third set. CSUN would answer going on a 6-1 run to take a 10-9 advantage. Trailing 13-12, UCI went on its own run, out-scoring CSUN 7-1, including aces by Apfelbach and Koubi, to create a 19-14 gap. Stadick would put away the match-winner 25-20.
UCI closes out the regular season with two contests against UC Santa Barbara. The teams will meet in Santa Barbara Thursday (Ap. 12) and in Irvine on Saturday (Apr. 14). UCI will honor seniors

NOTES: Apfelbach's .524 hitting percentage is his best of the season…Apfelbach has recorded double-figure kills in each of the last nine matches…Pikula has fired an ace in three of the last four matches…Stadick has recorded a solo block in 31 career matches...Wilmot recorded 14 total blocks over the two matches with the Matadors...The Anteaters' 15 blocks are the third most this season.
