TORRANCE, LONG BEACH & AZUSA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team had 10 individuals in action on Friday and two of them produced top-10 finishes.
 
At the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays, junior Asa Allen was sixth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.37 seconds. It was Allen's first race since the Mondo Team Challenge on March 31.
 
Junior Brandon Lucas also competed in the 200m (22.15), while sophomore Evan Singletary ran the 100m (11.36).
 
Just down the 405 freeway, junior Jhamani Long recorded a season-best 1:57.03 to take seventh in the 800m at the Beach Invitational. Senior Jon Dickinson added a 26th-place showing in the hammer throw (161-06).

At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, freshman Kit Carter notched an 800m personal-record 1:55.36, and classmate Xavier Weaver followed at 1:58.08. In the 1500m, senior Ashton Garcia led a trio of 'Eaters as he crossed the finish line in 3:53.18, shaving two seconds off his previous lifetime best. Sophomore Hector Garcia also clocked in at 3:56.03, while sophomore Sam Ayala came in at 3:59.98
 
UC Irvine returns to Long Beach tomorrow for the second and final day of the Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Track.
