IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team fell in Big West action to Cal Poly by a score of 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The Anteaters are 8-15 on the season and 0-7 in the conference. CP improves to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the Big West.
Vivien Dvali highlighted the day earning the 'Eaters only win with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over the Mustangs' Seriana Saltzen at No. 2 singles.
UCI dropped the doubles point and suffered losses at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 singles.
At No. 1 doubles,
Stephanie Hazell and
Danielle Garrido dropped a 6-3 decision while
Arianna Tilbury and
Flora Amiri fell, 6-4, on court two.
Vivien Dvali and
Yulin Chen led Grace Olyphant and Caroline Williams 6-5 at No. 3 doubles when the point was clinched.
Hazell was in a three-set battle at No. 1 singles with MacKenzie Worsnop, 0-6, 6-4, 1-5 when the match was called while Tilbury's match at No. 5 went unfinished as well. She led Olyphant, 6-4, 3-4.
The Mustangs clinched the match at No. 6 singles when Claire Bouquet defeated
Jacqueline Tsodikova, 6-2, 6-3.
Amiri and Chen fell on courts three and four, respectively.
UCI closes out the regular-season Saturday, April 21 with a home match against UC Riverside at 11:00 a.m.
