Anteater Ballpark to get Scoreboard Upgrade

| By:
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's newest addition to its facilities will be a revamped scoreboard at Anteater Ballpark to premiere April 13 for the weekend series broadcasted by ESPN3 against UC Santa Barbara.

The scoreboard in left field that has stood since 2002 will get a facelift complete with the addition of a video component front-and-center atop the console. The video board, produced by Daktronics, will sit where the original scoreboard was right below the Anteater Ballpark clock, which remains a fixture in left field, with a 12' H x 21.6' W video display directly underneath with a pixel pitch of 13HD. The generous donation will provide Anteater Ballpark fans with player and in-game information. In addition, the board will be used to enhanced promotional and sponsorship integration for the remainder of the 2018 season with ever-evolving possibilities as part of the ballpark experience.

"UC Irvine Athletics strives to provide the best experience at all of our venues, and with the help of generous contributions like this from our passionate donor base, we can continue to improve our unique environment," noted Athletic Director Mike Izzi. "The baseball program has a long-standing tradition of excellence and is backed by a fervent fan base, and this enhancement to their vision and the student-athlete experience."

The video board will be flanked by panels displaying the team's postseason successes noting the years of Big West titles, postseason berths, and College World Series appearances including the Division II titles in 1973 and 1974.

"We are very excited to come back home and see our new scoreboard," added Associate Head Coach Ben Orloff. "I think this will only enhance our field, what is already among the nicest on the West Coast from the playing surface to the ballpark. From the fans to the players, everyone will benefit from this addition."

The inning-by-inning scoreboard will also get an upgrade and shift to its new position directly below the video display illuminating for balls, strikes, outs, runs, hits, and errors along with its newest feature - a radar gun display showing the speed of pitch.

The improved scoreboard will cover an overall space of 22' in height and 46' in width still standing 52' tall from ground to the peak of the clock.
