UC Irvine Meet Notes
The UC Irvine men's track & field team will make its home debut this weekend when it hosts the UCI Spring Break Collegiate Classic, March 16-17.

The hammer throw, javelin, steeplechase and 5000m will be contested on Friday. A full day of events is then scheduled for Saturday, starting with the pole vault at 10 a.m. Action on the track commences with the 4x100 relay at 12 p.m. The two-day meet will be held at Anteater Stadium and will be scored for NCAA Division I purposes. Other schools competing include Pepperdine, Army West Point, Utah Valley, Northern Colorado, Fresno State, Utah State, Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego (D2) and El Camino (JC).

Seth Enochs began his collegiate career by winning the long jump at the Ben Brown Invitational.

• He went on to place 11th in the 800m at the NCAA Championships, earning second-team All-America distinction.

Paul Resong was also part of the 4x400 that won the conference title and qualified for the 2017 NCAA West Prelims.
• The Anteaters' 28-man roster features 12 newcomers, including eight freshmen.
• The season-opening All-UC Challenge in Santa Barbara (March 3) was canceled due to inclement weather.
• 2016 Olympian Charles Jock has returned to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant.
• Jock was a three-time All-American and the 2012 NCAA individual champion in the 800m at UC Irvine.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Irvine battled through a rare rainy Southern California day to finish third among NCAA Division I teams at the Ben Brown Invitational last weekend.

"It was our first competition of the year, so we knew as coaches that it would be an opportunity to dust off the rust," UCI head coach
Jeff Perkins said. "I was happy with the way our athletes competed despite the conditions."

Seth Enochs made a statement in his collegiate debut by claiming the long jump title with a leap of 23-02.5. He recorded the winning mark on his first attempt of the meet. The 4x400 relay team comprised of

Andres Woodruff also led the DI competition, and was the overall runner-up, at 3:17.30.

Izzak Mireles had a top-five showing in the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:25.57.
Hector Garcia was also sixth in the 5000m (15:07.84), while
Ashton Garcia shattered his previous best by over five seconds at 15:08.59 to come in seventh.
Jon Dickinson added a personal-record 176-02 in the hammer throw, putting him at No. 9 in the UCI record books.

SETTING THE BAR
Freshman long jumper
Seth Enochs had an impressive start to his collegiate career, recording a mark of 23-02.5 on his very first attempt as an 'Eater. That mark stood as the best of the competition as he took home the long jump title at the Ben Brown Invitational (March 10). Enochs currently ranks eighth in the West Region and 12th in all of NCAA Division I. The Yucca Valley, Calif., native was just over seven inches shy of cracking the Anteaters' all-time top-10 list.

HAMMER TIME
Senior
Jon Dickinson improved on his career best in the hammer throw by six feet, five inches with a toss of 176-02 at the season-opening Ben Brown Invitational. He finished ninth out of 35 overall competitors, while moving up one spot to No. 9 in school history.

The distance runners also had a handful of strong performances at the Ben Brown Invite. Sophomore
Hector Garcia led four 'Eaters in the 5000m, clocking in at 15:07.84, which was good for sixth. Senior
Ashton Garcia wasn't far behind in a personal-record 15:08.59 (7th). Senior
Izzak Mireles also placed fifth overall in the mile with a time of 4:27.41.
