The UC Irvine women's tennis team takes a break from conference play to host two non-conference tilts this week. UCI will play Bradley Tuesday, March 13 at 9 a.m. at Newport Beach Tennis Club before facing Southern Utah Friday March 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach.

• UC Irvine went 1-3 last week with losses to Toledo and Hawai'i. The Anteaters swept Chaminade, 7-0.
• UCI has swept two opponents this season including Hope International and Chaminade.

LAST TIME OUT
The Anteaters finished the week 1-3. UCI dropped a tough, 4-3 decision to Toledo at home before falling to Big West opponent Hawai'i, 7-0. UCI capped the week with a sweep of DII opponent Chaminade at a neutral site in Honolulu.
UCI won the doubles point against Toledo with victories at Nos. 1 and 2. The Rockets tied the game at one after Kokoro Chishaki defeated
Flora Amiri at the number four spot but Dvali put the 'Eaters back in the lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court three. Toledo jumped ahead with wins at No. two and six and clinched the match after Kendall-Woseley defeated Hazell at the top spot.
The Rainbow Warriors took an early lead as they won two out of three doubles matches to clinch the point and continued to dominate, earning victories at Nos. 1-6 singles. At No. 3 doubles,
Stephanie Nguyen and
Arianna Tilbury were tied, 3-3, with HU's Marina Hruba and Michelle Pits but the match was called after Hawai'i clinched the point.
Against Chaminade, The Anteaters swept in doubles, winning on all three courts without dropping a single point to the Swords. In singles,
Flora Amiri,
Yulin Chen,
Jacqueline Tsodikova and
Gillian Parker won on courts two, three, five and six, respectively without dropping a point to their opponents.
Vivien Dvali won at the top spot with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Catrina Liner.
VERSUS THE OPPONENTS
Bradley is 3-6 on the season with recent losses to Iowa (6-0) and Creighton (5-2). Alexa Brandt leads the Braves with six singles wins primarily at the No. 4 spot. Brandt and Malini Wijesinghe have a team-best four wins at No. 2 doubles. UCI and Bradley have never met.
Southern Utah (4-6) will play Bradley and UC Riverside before making the trip to Irvine. The Thunderbirds recently dropped matches to Idaho State (6-1) and Weber State (5-2). This will be the first meeting between UCI and Southern Utah.
UNDER PRESSURE
Arianna Tilbury has been clutch for the 'Eaters this season. The sophomore has clinched a team-best three matches for the 'Eaters in singles. Most recently, Tilbury won at the No. 6 spot against Villanova to seal the match.
YOUNG TALENT

Yulin Chen leads the Anteaters this season six dual-match singles wins each. Freshman
Arianna Tilbury and sophomore
Stephanie Nguyen aren't far behind with seven and five dual-match singles wins, respectively. The freshman duo of Chen and
Flora Amiri also top the roster in doubles with four wins so far.
MEET THE 'EATERS
UC Irvine returns seven players and welcomes five newcomers, including four freshman and one transfer. Junior
Danielle Garrido spent the last two seasons at San Diego Mesa where she won back-to-back junior college state singles titles. Freshmen
Flora Amiri (Advantage Tennis Academy) and
Clair Dean (Woodbridge HS) are both local products while
Emily Valenciano hails from Yorba Linda, Calif.
Yulin Chen prepped at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
11 of the 12 Anteaters on the roster are California products, while
Yulin Chen is a native of Changsha, Hunan, China.
In addition to Amiri and Dean,
Ashlynn Hall (San Clemente HS) and
Stephanie Hazell (Pacific Academy) are also local Orange County products.
BACK ON TOP
Vivien Dvali returns for her final season as UCI's active career leader with 34 overall singles wins. She is a two-time All-Big West selection and grabbed seven of her eight dual-match singles victories at the No. 2 spot last season.
TOP TALENT
Freshman
Flora Amiri is a five-star recruit out of Advantage Tennis Academy who ranked 11
th in California and 60
th in the nation according to TennisRecruting.net.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Anteaters play 12 games at Anteater Tennis Stadium including a four-game home stand to cap Big West dual-match play in April. UCI rounds out the season at home against CSUN (Apr. 8), UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 14), Cal Poly (Apr.15) and UC Riverside (Apr. 21).
