
Canales, Crisostomo Earn All-Far West Region Honors

All-Far West Region Team
IRVINE, Calif. --- For the seventh time in program history, the 'Eaters have elevated a pair of student-athletes to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-Far West Region team in the form of seniors Ivan Canales and Daniel Crisostomo.
The fourth-year duo make up the 21st and 22nd honors all-time for the program earned by 20 different Anteater student-athletes. The last was Giovanni Godoy on the 2017 Second Team.
Together, the guys put home 13 goals, seven alone in conference matches, and assists on eight of them helping lead the squad into the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament and to an 11-6-4 record.
Canales, the Big West's Offensive Player of the Year, accounted for 10 goals to lead his team and the Big West putting away six as game-winners to land among the top five in the NCAA. Along with his five assists to give him a conference-best 25 points this year, he vaulted into the program's top four in goals scored, assists, points, and joined Kevin Smith as the only two Anteaters with 20 or more goals and assists over a career. He also snagged his first Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor which lead to his inclusion on the All-Big West First Team becoming the first Anteater to attain the feat in all four years.
Crisostomo, the Big West's Midfielder of the Year, cleaned up at all ends of the field showing his offensive chops in 2018 with his first three career goals and adding three assists to give him 13 in his career. Crisostomo was a cornerstone on the defensive side having a hand in all seven shutouts during the season which lifted him up to his second All-Big West honor during his 74 career matches as an Anteater.
