Ivan Canales Earns Scholar All-American Status

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The United Soccer Coaches released its Scholar All-America teams for 2018 on Tuesday with Anteater senior Ivan Canales a member of the First Team.
The sociology major was named to the NCAA's Academic All-District squad last month as the 10th honor for the program. UCI has had three previous Academic All-Americans with the last being Corey Attaway in 2010.
Canales adds to his collection of awards this year that include All-Far West Region First Team, All-Big West First Team, and Big West Offensive Player of the Year.
The senior scored 10 goals, six for game-winners, adding five assists as he help the Anteaters to an NCAA Tournament appearance into the second round.
