THIS WEEK
The UC Irvine women's tennis team kicks off the 2018-19 season with a trip to the east coast to play a busy weekend of matches against teams from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
UCI will play split-squad matches against Wagner, Monmouth and Drew on Friday, October 5 before traveling to play travel Sacred Heart and Siena on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Anteaters will wrap up the trip with games against Fairfield and Marist on Sunday morning.Â
NEW FALL DUAL-MATCH PLAY
This is the first time in program history the Anteaters will be playing countable dual-matches in the fall. UCI will play a total of 12 regular-season dual matches in the fall over two weekends (Oct. 5-7, Oct. 19-21) with a split-squad format. In years prior, the team would compete in preseason tune-up tournaments. All 12 dual matches will count towards the Anteaters overall 2018-19 record.Â

- UC Irvine welcomes back eight players from a 2017-18 squad that finished with a 9-15 overall record (1-7 in Big West conference play)

Ten of the Anteaters on the roster are California natives, four of whom are from Irvine. The remaining two are

Alyssia Fossorier from Honolulu, Hawai'i.Â
EAST COAST SUCCESS
UCI has proven success when playing on the east coast. Last season the Anteaters played three matches in Pennsylvania and finished with a 3-0 record earning wins against La Salle, Saint Joseph's and Lafayette.

This will be the first meeting in program history between UC Irvine and all seven east coast opponents

UC Irvine hosts Cal State Los Angeles in an exhibition match on Oct. 12 before heading back to the east coast for five matches Oct. 19-21.Â
