RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's cross country team finished ninth out of 20 teams at the Highlander Invitational Saturday morning at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
Junior
Hector Garcia led the Anteaters for the third time in four races this season as he completed the 8000-meter course in 25:24.48. Garcia was 32nd out of 250 competitors.

Sam Ayala had another strong performance in his second meet back from injury, clocking in at 25:35.61 to come in 41st overall.

Ashton Garcia placed 44th with a time of 25:36.87, while freshman
Sebastian Bautista established a personal-record 25:53.42 to take 61st. It was Bautista's first sub-26 minute 8K. Freshman
Christian Hernandez (26:04.05) rounded out UCI's top-five scorers.
"We are happy with how the freshmen are stepping up and working into our top-five," UC Irvine distance coach
Chris Evans said. "They have really developed throughout the year, and we are going to need them to perform well at conference."
