UC Irvine Wraps up Light Day of Action at UW Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. – The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team opened the UW Invitational with five individuals competing in two events Friday evening at Dempsey Indoor. 

All three Anteaters entered in the 200m finished among the top-20. Senior Persis William-Mensah led the way as she placed third in a field of 103 runners with a time of 24.50. William-Mensah was .12 seconds off her school-record 24.38, which she established last year.
 
Junior Hope Bushnell was also 12th overall with a personal-best 25.10. She moved up one spot to No. 3 in program history. Freshman Mikayla Scott added an 18th-place showing, clocking in at 25.28 seconds to crack UCI's top-10 (5th).  
 
In the weight throw, sophomore Brianna Villanueva took fourth in Flight 1, and 30th overall, with a lifetime-best 49-03.50. It is the second-straight meet in which she has established a personal record and continues to move up the all-time charts as she now ranks fourth in school history. Junior Barbara Coward came in 33rd with a toss of 49-00.25.
 
UC Irvine continues action at the UW Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27, with a full slate starting at 9 a.m.
