Five Things To Know: Riley Shaw

IRVINE, Calif. – The women's water polo team opens the 2018 season this weekend at the Cal Invitational. We are counting down the days with five things to know about some of the Anteater players.
Senior goalkeeper Riley Shaw (Clayton, Calif/Carondelet HS) played in nine games last season, recording 34 saves. She made a season-high 10 saves against Cal Baptist (Jan. 28).
KINDA CHEESEY
I love cheese. I know a majority of people can say that they love cheese but I promise you, I take it to a whole new level.
CAREER GOALS
I am a public health policy major with a minor in political science. After UCI I plan on going to nursing school to hopefully become a Labor and Delivery nurse.
FUNNY FACES
My team refers to me as Grumpy Cat, because the face I make when I block a ball resembles that of Grumpy Cat.
HEAVY STUFF
I love heavy metal music, my favorite bands are Marilyn Manson and Slipknot. That's the music I listen to before games.
ON THE TV
I love Game of Thrones and am way too excited for the final season. I would want to be Daenerys Targaryen because she's awesome and she has dragons.
My favorite Netflix binge show is How I Met Your Mother, I can watch that show over and over.
EXTRAS
I only write in cursive, when they said you'll probably never use it again, I took that as a challenge… challenge accepted.
What is your favorite professional sports team?
My favorite baseball team is the San Francisco Giants and my favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys.
Favorite animal?
I love pigs! They have always been my favorite animal and I hope to get one as a pet.
Favorite professional athlete?
Michael Phelps! I watched him swim in the 2004 Athens Olympics on TV and ever since then I have been a huge fan. Fun fact, he inspired my email address.
