UC Irvine Leads Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. – Sophomore Janet Yeo fired a career-low 68 to catapult UC Irvine to the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational held at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.

Yeo carded a two round total of 143, including a second round 68, which was the low score of the day among the tournament field. Her 68 is tied for the eighth best round in program history. She currently sits one stroke behind leaders Julia Becker from Sacramento State and Jakeishya Le from UC Riverside who are both at 142.
 

The Anteaters are in first place with a 36-hole total of 586 (296-290), two shots ahead of Sacramento State (588) and four in front of UC Riverside and Nevada (590) heading in to the final round.

Junior Kaley In used a second round 71 to move in to ninth place with a score of 147 (76-71), while Avery French is tied for 22nd at 150 (73-77). Breanne Jones had UCI's best round of the morning with an even-par 72 and finished at 154 and is tied for 44th. Freshman Sabrina Li is tied for 87th with a score of 163 (89-74).

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow beginning with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m.
