Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Harlee Kekauoha, Haley DeSales and Ali Koumelis each recorded a double-doubles as UC Irvine swept UC Riverside 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-20) at the SRC Arena Thursday night.

The Anteaters improve to 20-4 overall, the first 20-win season since 2009 when the club was 22-8. UCI goes to 8-3 in league action and will host Cal State Fullerton Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Events Center.

Kekauoha logged 11 kills and 11 digs plus two aces, while DeSales totaled 10 kills, 11 digs and an ace and Koumelis recorded 31 set assists, 10 digs and an ace.

Brianna Montgomery recorded seven kills, Idara Akpakpa had six and Makayla Wolfe put away five kills in the win. Libero Luna Tsujimoto had team-high 14 digs.

UCI held a 7-2 advantage in aces

UC Riverside (9-13, 1-9) was led by Fabiana Rosas 10 kills and Chelsea Doyles 26 set assists and match-high 17 digs.

The teams were close in the first set until a Haley DeSales kill was followed by three consecutive Highlander errors to give the Anteaters the 10-6 lead. UCI had another four in a row, which included kills by Harlee Kekauoha and Makayla Wolfe plus an ace by Ali Koumelis, 14-8. Brianna Montgomery gave UCI set point 24-13 before UCR rallied, scoring the next five to narrow the margin to 25-18. Following a UCI timeout, the Highlanders kept rolling with another point (24-19) before a Koumelis kill ended the set 25-19.

DeSales had a kill and an ace as UCI jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the second set. Kills by Montgomery and Kekauoha with an ace by Wolfe extended the Anteater advantage to 19-12. An Anteater block would end the set, 25-18.

The third set was close until UCI snuck ahead 19-16 on a pair of Highlander errors and a kill by Wolfe. A kill by Montgomery and two more UCR attack errors would end the set 25-20.
