Godoy Twice as Nice as Big West Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior midfielder Giovanni Godoy earned his second Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor of 2017 by pouring in two two-goal matches over the week.
Godoy scored twice in just over two minutes on Wednesday to double the 'Eater lead in a 4-0 victory vs. UC Riverside. He returned with another two-goal match in a losing effort at CSUN for his third brace in six conference matches. He now reigns supreme in the Big West with 11 goals this season and 24 points, both marks also rank within the nation's top 10.
Godoy received his first honor in the last week of non-conference play with game-winners against Lipscomb and LMU. The 'Eaters have now taken home the offensive honor in consecutive weeks and four times overall in 2017. The award is the fifth of the year for UC Irvine with two for Godoy and single honors for Luis Leon, Daniel Crisostomo, and Mario Ortiz.
UCI is currently tied atop the Big West South, and can continue its push to a tournament spot with a pair of matches this week at home vs. Cal State Fullerton (Wed. Oct. 18) and CSUN (Sat. Oct. 21).
