No. 6 UC Irvine Overpowered By No. 3 Cal, 18-8

BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine could not stop the third-ranked Cal offense in a 18-8 non-conference loss at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
The Anteaters suffered their second consecutive loss and go to 10-6 overall, while Cal improves to 14-1.
For the 12th time this season, senior Lovre Milos led UCI, recording four goals. Kyle Trush added a pair of goals, while Jack Trush and Jack Baumgardner each added a goal. Goalkeeper Matej Matejevic had nine saves.
Luca Cupido led all players with six goals to pace the Golden Bears.
Cal jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of Luca Cupido goals before Kyle Trush got the Anteaters on the board at 5:36 and Lovre Milos followed with a goal at 2:48 to tie the game at 2-2. The Bears would score the final two goals of the first period to lead 4-2 at the end of the initial eight minutes.
Cal continued to increase the lead in the second period, scoring the next two then Milos scored on either end of another Golden Bear goal, 7-4. Cal would add another to enter the half with a 8-4 advantage.
Cal out-scored UCI 6-2 in the third quarter with the Anteaters getting a goal from Jack Trush (4:59) and Milos (3:18).
Kyle Trush and Jack Baumgardner would score in the final period as Cal would go on to score four more times in the 18-8 victory.
