IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine opens the 2016 season Thursday (Sept. 1) in the Pepperdine Invitational.
The men's 5,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. at Alumni Park in Malibu as UCI will compete against the host Waves and Long Beach State.
Senior Isaiah Thompson leads a veteran UCI team after he finished fifth at the Big West Conference Championships last season. He was the Anteaters' top runner in four meets in 2015.
Izzak Mireles was 25th and Branden Randall placed 26th at the conference meet last year.
