RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Megan George eclipsed her previous school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the UC Riverside Spring Classic Saturday.
She won the race in 13.28 seconds, topping her previous UCI mark of 13.51 that she set last year. That time currently ranks 10th in the nation this season.
Tyra Jones finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.91, Megan Benson was fourth in 13.97 and Paige Bushnell ninth in 14.32.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Paige Bushnell placed third in 60.62, Kaulyn Lee-McNeill was fourth (60.68), Jones seventh (63.23) and Crystal Lizaola eighth (63.26).
Michelle Norman finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.56 and Taisyn Crutchfield was eighth in 24.96.
The Anteaters' 4x100 relay of Crutchfield, George, Norman and Persis William-Mensah placed third in 45.71 and the 4x400 relay of Lee-McNeill, George, Lizaola and Simone Buchanan was sixth in 3:46.69.
Lauren Hall also had a top-10 performance on the track, finishing seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.80.
In field events, freshman Barbara Coward continued her brilliant spring by winning the discus throw with a mark of 162-3 and Ariel Cheng placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 12-0 ¾.
Marisa McGinnis finished fourth in the javelin throw at 132-0 and Kelly Magana was sixth at 126-1.
Madelyn Sando and Alexandria Fenderson were eighth and ninth, respectively, in the high jump at 4-11.
Charity Lyons was 10th in the long jump (17-7 ½) and Danika Hitchcock finished 10th in the triple jump at 33-7 ¼.
In competition Friday, Dazhana Bauer-Jackson was seventh in the hammer throw at 166-11.
UCI finished fifth in the team competition with 77 points as Cornell won the title with 139.
