Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine hosted Furman but the match was cut short when a storm blew in leaving the score tied 1-1.

The Anteaters and Furman Paladins raced to start the match beginning with singles to try to complete the contest before the rain would make that impossible.

Ashlynn Hall defeated Harper Caswell 6-0, 6-3 at flight six to give the 'Eaters the first point. Flight five quickly followed as Furman's Karlee Bryde took the win over Cassidy Branstine 6-4, 6-2 leaving the score tied 1-1.

The Nos. 1,2,3 and 4 spots all won their first sets and were playing strong in second sets when the rain started falling driving everyone to find cover and the match suspended. The showers did not let up and the match will remain unfinished.

The Anteaters host Dartmouth next Sunday (Mar. 20) at 11:00 a.m. at the Anteater Tennis Stadium
