Women's Water Polo Stumbles to No. 8 San Jose State, 6-3

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- No. 5 UC Irvine's season got off to a rough start falling to eighth-ranked San Jose State, 6-3.
SJSU (4-1) jumped out early to a solid, 3-1 lead after one period. Mackenzie Milham had the lone score for the 'Eaters (0-1), and it would be the only one for the half as the Spartans built a 5-1 lead entering the second half.
Natalie Seidemann got the Anteaters back on board in the third quarter as the 'Eaters held their four-goal deficit of 6-2.
Mary Brooks buried a third goal, but it was not enough despite holding the Spartans scoreless in the final period and fell to the final of 6-3.
UCI's time at the UCSB Gaucho Invite goes through the rest of Saturday with a matchup against Azusa Pacific at 4:30 p.m.
