IRVINE, Calif. --- Will Davis II, who completed his career as one of the most prolific players in UC Irvine basketball history, is on the roster of the Los Angeles Lakers' NBA Summer League team that begins play in Las Vegas Friday.
The Lakers open against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 5:30 p.m. (PT) at the Thomas & Mack Center. Saturday's game is against the Philadelphia 76ers and Monday's contest is versus the New York Knicks. Both of those games also have 5:30 p.m. (PT) starts at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Summer League Tournament begins Wednesday (July 15).
All of the Lakers' Summer League games will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, as well as NBA TV.
Lakers' assistant coach Mark Madsen will serve as head coach of the Summer League team.
Davis, who led UCI in scoring (12.9) and rebounding (7.1) this past season, helped guide the 'Eaters to the Big West Conference Tournament title and the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
The Big West Tournament MVP was also named to the All-Big West First team and finished 37th in the nation with a field-goal percentage of .543.
Davis ended his UCI career as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots (208), second in rebounds (852) and eighth in points (1,384). He had a career field-goal percentage of .548.
Davis is one of just three players in the 50-year history of the UCI program to record 1,000 points and 800 rebounds in his career.
