Lloyd Sicard Moves on at West Prelims

 

AUSTIN, Texas --- UC Irvine sophomore Lloyd Sicard easily advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas, Friday.

Sicard blazed to a time of 13.62 seconds in the first round to place second in his heat and fourth overall in the field of 48 competitors.

His time ranks No. 1 in Anteater history under all conditions.

Sicard, this year's Big West Conference champion, competes in the quarterfinal round Saturday at 5:20 p.m. (PT) at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The top 12 from Saturday's quarterfinals will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 10-13.

UCI senior Mason Miller, also a Big West champion this season, finished 41st in the shot put Friday night with a mark of 55-7 1/2.
