UC Irvine's Cameron Vaca, Lloyd Sicard and Mason Miller compete in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Austin, Texas, Thursday through Saturday.
Vaca, a junior, competes in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles at 3:00 p.m. (PDT) Thursday. The top 24 runners from that round will advance to the quarterfinal Friday at 5:45 p.m.
Sicard, a sophomore, competes in the first round of the 110-meter hurdles at 3:30 p.m. (PT) Friday with the quarterfinal round on Saturday at 5:20 p.m.
Miller, a senior, competes in the shot put at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
Vaca has a top time this season in the 400 hurdles of 51.71 seconds that is tied for fifth in Anteater history. His time is No. 30 in the West Region. He finished second in the event at the Big West Conference Championships.
Sicard, the school-record holder in the 110 hurdles and 2015 Big West champion, ranks 13th in the region with a time of 13.78 seconds.
Miller, who set the school record in the shot put (60-6) this season, ranks No. 26 in the region. He won the shot put at the Big West Championships.
The top 12 finishers in each event from the West Preliminary Round will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 10-13.
The East Preliminary Round is being held this week in Jacksonville, Fla.
