IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's tennis opened competition at the UCI Fall Invitational, hosting UC Riverside, Biola, Westmont and Clovis in three days of hidden dual competition. The Anteaters competed in singles and doubles action, earning victories against Westmont in doubles while facing Biola in singles play.
In doubles competition against Westmont, Sayuri Parandian and Rachel Gee secured a win, defeating Evelyn Oltmans and Cassie Donar, 6-2. Lindsay Kim and Clovis College's Perez also defeated Emma Rashid and Lea Schewiola, 6-3. Quin Brady and Mackenzie Lukin fell to Thea Donarski and Lauren Gee, 6-4.
The Anteaters also competed in singles action against Biola. Yao Kim earned a straight-set victory over Lukin, 6-1, 6-4, while Ayala Stephens defeated Brady, 6-4, 6-3. UCI's Parandian defeated Ivet Stancheva, 6-1, 6-0, and Biola's Kailee Mazzeo defeated R. Gee, 6-3, 6-3.
The UCI Fall Invitational features a hidden dual format, with participating teams facing different opponents in singles and doubles throughout the three-day tournament. Competition continues through Saturday, Oct. 31, with matches resuming following UCI's kids tennis clinic.
