IRVINE, Calif. --- Coach Paul Smolinski's UC Irvine men's golf team begins the 2015 portion of its schedule this week in the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Club in Lakeside.
Two rounds are scheduled for Monday with the final round Tuesday on the par-72 layout that measures 7,029 yards. Action begins Monday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
Joining UCI and host San Diego State in the field are Bowling Green, Illinois State, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, South Dakota State, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and UT Arlington.
The Anteaters' lineup features senior Pete Fernandez, junior Jacob Schulze, freshmen Jonathan Young and David Kim, and sophomore Bryan Shin.
Fernandez, a 2014 All-Big West Conference first-team selection, led the 'Eaters in the fall with a 71.67 average and two top-10 finishes.
UCI had three top-four showings in four tournaments during the fall.
