
Persis William-Mensah Breaks School Mark

SEATTLE, Wash. --- UC Irvine freshman Persis William-Mensah broke her own school record in the 60 meters on the first day of competition at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championship in Seattle Friday.
William-Mensah finished in 7.61 seconds in the preliminaries, eclipsing her previous mark of 7.63(C) set in Flagstaff, Ariz., Jan. 24.
Taisyn Crutchfield had a time of 7.96 in the prelims as neither UCI runner advanced to the final.
William-Mensah recorded a time of 25.70 in the prelims of the 200 meters and did not advance.
In the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, Megan George finished 17th of 30 overall with a time of 8.82 and Paige Bushnell was 23rd in 8.97.
Ariel Cheng placed 20th in the pole vault with a mark of 11-6 ½ and Titula Sappa was 31st in the weight throw at 39-4 ½.
Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. at Dempsey Indoor.
