
UC Irvine Breaks From Action

- UC Irvine, 12-13 overall and 6-7 in the Big West, will break from action this week.
- The Anteaters return to competition Tues., Nov. 17 against Hawai'i to kick off a trio of home matches that will conclude the season.
- Following the match-up against the Rainbow Wahine, UCI will host UC Davis on Sat., Nov. 21.
- Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN3 with first-serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
CAREER-BEST FOR ANDERSON
- Shelley Anderson recorded a career-high 61 assists in a five-game effort against Cal Poly last week.
- The junior had a solid match, chipping in 10 digs, a solo block and a block assist on the defensive end.
- Offensively, Anderson converted on four of eight attempts with no errors to hit .500.
- She returned the next night and spearheaded a 3-1 win over UC Santa Barbara with 48 assists and 12 digs for her fourth double-double match of the year.
- Anderson is currently fourth in the UCI career records with 2,933 and needs 53 assists to tie Teri Zartman (1997-2000), who posted 2,986 for the No. 3 spot.
BUBICA BLASTS SEASON-BEST
- Marisa Bubica logged a season-high 19 kills to pace UCI against UCSB.
- The outside hitter totaled a .341 hitting percentage, registering five miscues in 41 attempts for her second-best mark this year.
- Bubica was one of four Anteaters to reach double-digit kills against Cal Poly and was second with 15 kills.
- She is averaging 3.00 kills per set.
TSUJIMOTO LEADS TEAM IN 70-DIG MATCHES
- UCI's back row talents were on display last week as the Anteaters posted back-to-back matches of at least 70 digs for the first time this year.
- Luna Tsujimoto led all players with 20 digs against the Mustangs.
- The sophomore then paced UCI to a 72-53 advantage against UCSB with 21 scoops, her second match-high of the week.
- Tsujimoto is averaging 3.99 digs per set and has 379 on the year.
- She is second on the team with 20 aces.
CAREER-HIGH FOR HAKIM
- Chloe Hakim continues to be a key defensive figure for the Anteaters.
- Also a sophomore, Hakim picked up a career-high 17 digs against UCSB after notching 15 against Cal Poly.
- Hakim's 17-dig effort edged her previous best of 16, posted against Hawai'i.
- Hakim has reached the double-digit mark in seven of the last eight matches.
LATOUR WITH PERSONAL-BEST
- Lena Latour had one of her best efforts against Cal Poly, hitting .348 for a career-high.
- The opposite had just one error in 23 attempts and knocked down nine kills to hit over .300 for the third time this season.
- Latour also limited herself to one error against UCSB while putting away seven kills in 26 swings to go along with a pair of block assists.
- Latour has registered at least one block assists in four consecutive matches.
EVEN DOZEN FOR DENNIS
- Victoria Dennis put away 12 kills against Cal Poly, reaching the double-digit mark for the first time since totaling 11 kills against UC Riverside.
- Dennis was efficient, hitting .391 against the Mustangs, to kick off an impressive weekend.
- Dennis then blasted a .400 clip against UCSB with seven kills with one error.
- Dennis averages 2.92 kills and is second on the team with 260.
- She leads the team with 15 solo stuffs and is third with a .53 blocking average.
ROSENFELD HAS HOT HAND AGAINST MUSTANGS
- Ella Rosenfeld blasted a team-leading .455 hitting percentage against Cal Poly to lead the Anteaters.
- The middle blocker had a lone error in 22 attempts while posting 11 kills.
- She then chipped in seven kills against UCSB.
- On the defensive front, the senior had five block assists over the two matches and leads the team with 77 total blocks and an .81 blocking average.
WRIGHT JUST MISSES DOUBLE-DOUBLE
- Sydney Wright had a personal-high eight digs against UCSB, falling two shy of a double-double.
- The junior had 10 kills in the effort while firing a service winner.
- Wright's eight digs surpasses her previous effort of six, recorded against Cal State Fullerton in 2012.
