Trio Set To Join UC Irvine Women's Volleyball

Standing at 6-3, Makayla Wolfe hails from Corona, Calif. The middle blocker was named a "Class of 2016 Senior Ace" by PrepVolleyball and was ranked No. 93 after having earned a "Top 50 Juniors" designation last year. A three-time Ayala All-Tournament honoree, Wolfe is the school's all-time leader in blocks and hitting percentage, boasting a .599 clip to rank among the top five in the nation. With Wolfe, Santiago High School won a CIF title and advanced to the state finals in 2013 and was a CIF runner-up last season.
"Makayla is a talented middle that moves well," commented Hain. "She provides a great block and plays with poise and confidence. She will raise our level on the court immediately."
Joining Wolfe at the net will be Danika Ferguson from Hillsdale High School. A 6-2 talent from San Mateo, Calif., Ferguson received all-league honorable mention accolades her junior year. She helped the
Red Rock volleyball club win a bronze medal in the National Division at the Junior Olympics in 2014 as well as qualify for the open bid to Junior Olympics in 2015.
"Danika has a ton of potential and could help us in different areas in the front row," said Hain. "She brings size and power and we anticipate major growth in every aspect of her game."
Loryn Carter rounds out the group and brings in an impressive resume. A student-athlete at St. Lucy's Priory, the 6-3 native of Pomona, Calif., is a 2014 All-Baseline League first-team honoree. Also a two-time All-Sierra League selection in 2012 and 2013, the outside hitter earned the team Offensive Award her sophomore year. Garnering a SoCal Prep Legends Athlete of the Week nod, Carter also earned a spot on the Campo Valley All-Tournament team and helped her club team finish third in the 17 Open Division last year.
"Loryn will be one of the more physical players we have next season," said Hain. "She is strong, competitive and should have a lot of success in the Big West. She is a force to be reckoned with at the net and we are excited to get her in the gym."
