MPSF Tournament Central
IRVINE, Calif. --- Seventh-seeded UC Irvine faces No. 10 seed San Jose State in the opening game of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament at USC Friday.
The Anteaters and Spartans play at 8:30 a.m. at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The winner meets second-seeded Pacific at 2:30 p.m., also on Friday.
In the only previous meeting of the season, UCI defeated San Jose State, 11-3, at the Anteater Aquatics Complex Nov. 7.
Coach Marc Hunt's 'Eaters are 14-10 overall and were 3-6 in MPSF games, defeating Pepperdine, 12-11, in the regular-season finale Nov. 13.
Junior Lovre Milos leads UCI with 51 goals and is fifth in the MPSF with a scoring average of 2.22 per game.
Junior Kyle Trush, with 41 goals, is 14th in the league in scoring.
Sophomore Matt Skinner has 32 goals, senior Jared Osborn 30, senior Pablo Carballo 29, sophomore Ryan Warde 21, junior Antoine Lena 17, senior Larson Pfeil 14 and freshman Jack Trush 11.
Senior goalie Dylan Peterson has 264 saves and leads the MPSF with an average of 12.70 stops per game.
