
UC Irvine Travels To No. 8 Hawai'i

- UC Irvine will travel to Honolulu, HI for a lone match against the eight-ranked Rainbows this Saturday (Oct. 17).
- The match against Hawai'i kicks off a string of three straight road matches for the Anteaters, who face a ranked team for the fourth time this season.
- As a team, UCI is 84th in the nation with a .236 hitting percentage.
- The Anteaters have hit better than .250 in eight matches this year.
DAVIS JUMPS IN UCI RECORDS
- Arden Davis continued to make her climb in the Anteater career records, going from 10th to seventh in digs.
- The junior recorded 11 digs in two matches last week to pass Popi Edwards' (1992-95) total of 1,045 and Keegan Featherstone, who notched 1,046 (2002-05).
- Sitting above Davis is head coach Ashlie Hain, who is fifth in the annals with 1,175 digs (2001-04).
ROSENFELD ERROR-LESS IN BACK-TO-BACK CONTESTS
- Ella Rosenfeld was error-less on the offensive end in two matches last week.
- The middle blocker was 7 for 15 to post a .467 clip against Cal Poly.
- She then followed with a .429 effort against the Highlanders, knocking down six of 14 attempts.
- Rosenfeld is hitting .358 on the year and is 83rd in the country as well as third in the Big West.
- She is averaging 2.16 kills and tops the team with a .85 blocking average.
- Rosenfeld is nearly the program's top 10 in career block assists with 233 and is tied at No. 11 with Cindy Rohrig, who played from 1982-85.
DENNIS NEARLY MATCHES SEASON-BEST
- Victoria Dennis hit .345 against UC Riverside, her second-best hitting percentage this year.
- The outside hitter had just one error in 29 attempts and put away 11 kills in the win.
- Dennis' best performance this year came against CSUN, as the junior was on fire with a .350 clip (10k-3e-20ta).
- It is the third time she has hit above .300 for the Anteaters this year.
- Dennis is tied for first on the team and tied for seventh in the Big West with a 3.26 kill-per-set average.
- She is the third on the team in blocks at .54 and holds a team-best 12 solo blocks.
KEKAUOHA CLIMBS IN BIG WEST KILLS
- Harlee Kekauoha moved into a tie for seventh in the Big West in kills at 3.26.
- The freshman was held to six kills against Cal Poly but rebounded with a 14-kill effort against the Highlanders.
- Against UCR, Kekauoha hit .423 to go along with six digs and two blocks.
- She has 222 kills on the year and is first with 21 aces to sit sixth in the Big West at .31 per set.
- Kekauoha, who has hit better than .300 in 10 matches, is fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at .327.
HAKIM DIGS DOUBLE-DIGITS
- Chloe Hakim gave the Anteaters a boost in the back-row, picking up 10 digs in the win against UCR.
- The sophomore had key digs in the final set and went on to post double-figures for the third time this year.
- Hakim also had a season-best two aces against the Highlander.
ANDERSON HOLDING STEADY AT FOURTH
- Shelley Anderson came in at No. 4 in the Big West with an 8.67 assist average.
- Anderson dished out 47 assists in two matches last week to go along with 13 digs.
- She has 468 assists on the year for the Anteaters.
- Anderson remains fourth in the UCI career record books with 2,692 assists.
STREAK SNAPPED BY MUSTANGS
- UCI had a 12-match streak of at least one ace halted in the loss to Cal Poly last week.
- However, the Anteaters bounced back with three service winners against UCR.
- UCI has recorded at least one ace in all but two matches.
- The team's season-best was nine aces against Seattle and North Dakota State.
ABOUT THE 'BOWS
- Hawai'i is ranked eighth in the country and is 16-1 overall and undefeated in the Big West at 6-0.
- The team is led by Nikki Taylor who is second in the conference with a 4.40 kill average.
- Olivia Magill and Emily Maglio are first and second respectively, in the Big West in hitting with Magill boasting a .396 clip and Maglio logging a .369 percentage.
- The Anteaters have never won a match against the Rainbows.
- In 2014, UCI was swept at Hawai'i but pushed the 'Bows to five at the Bren Events Center.
