- UCI opens the Big West schedule with a 10-4 record and is tied for third in the conference.
- The Anteaters lead the Big West in hitting percentage (.264), kills (14.50), assists (13.33) and digs (15.48).
- UCI is second in the league in aces (1.50) and third in opponent hitting percentage (.190).
- The team has won four in a row and 10 of the last 12 games.
- The Anteaters face two of the top four teams in the Big West this week when UCI hosts Duke's Black and Blue rival, Long Beach State, tied for third at 10-4.
- UCI then entertains CSUN, holder of the best win percentage in the conference at .750 (9-3).
NATIONAL RANKINGS
- UCI is ranked 10th in kills per set at 14.50 and in team kills with 654.
- The team is 13th in the country in team assists (693) and 18th in assist average (13.33).
- The Anteaters are 34th with 78 service aces, 35th in hitting (.264) and 40th with 805 digs.
BUBICA NAMED MVP, BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Marisa Bubica was named the Big West Player of the Week after leading UCI to a 4-0 week and winning the Golden Grizzlies Invitational MVP honor.
- Bubica averaged 5.50 kills and in a match leading up to the invitational, posted a career-best 25 kills against Eastern Michigan.
- She hit better than .300 in three of the four contests, including posting a .423 clip to hit above .400 for the second time this year.
- Bubica, the Big West leader in kills at 4.39 and points at 4.58, is ranked 19th in the nation in kills per set.
- She is also fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at .331.
- The Big West Player of the Week award is the second for Bubica.
ANDERSON GUIDES UCI TO SWEEPS, VOTED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
- Shelley Anderson earned a spot on the all-tournament team after leading the team to three straight-set wins.
- Anderson jumped from 10th to seventh in the UCI career assist records.
- The sophomore has logged 1,544 assists, passing Meredith Fletcher (1994-95) and Jamie Pilbeam (1999-2000) in the record books.
- Anderson is 31st in the country and first in the conference in assist average at 10.98.
LEE COMPLETES ALL-TOURNAMENT TRIO
- Allison Lee was also named to the Golden Grizzlies Invitational All-Tournament team after posting solid all-around matches.
- Lee averaged 3.23 kills and added 45 digs while tying a personal-best with three aces against Robert Morris and Oakland.
- Lee, who has posted three service winners three times this year, is fourth in the Big West with a .37 ace average.
- Lee leads the team with 28 block assists and in total blocks with 29 and is second in digs with 165.
- The senior is ranked seventh in the Big West in kills (3.23), eighth in points (3.88) and 10th in digs (3.17).
ROSENFELD SWINGS INTO TOP 10
- Ella Rosenfeld blasted an impressive .462 against Eastern Michigan and jumped into the No. 9 spot in the Big West with a .290 hitting percentage.
- Rosenfeld edges Arielle Manz, who is 10th at .278.
- Rosenfeld is tied for second on the team with 21 block assists and third in total blocks with 21.
DAVIS STEPS UP TO SECOND IN CONFERENCE
- Arden Davis cleaned up the back row for the Anteaters and led the team in digs in two of the four matches while tying for the top spot in a third.
- The sophomore averaged 5.08 digs per set and fired three aces in UCI's unbeaten week.
- Davis climbed to second in the Big West in digs at 4.48 and is 36th with 233 total digs.
ABOUT THE BEACH
- Long Beach State is 10-4 and has won 10 of the last 12 matches.
- The Beach has taken on two ranked opponents, suffering sweeps to both No. 11 Illinois and No. 20 North Carolina.
- Alex Reid leads the team with a 2.82 average and is third with 2.57 digs.
- LBSU sits behind UCI and is second in the Big West in hitting percentage (.245) and digs (15.47) and is third in kills (13.35).
- The Beach leads the league in opponent hitting percentage (.156).
- UCI looks to snap an eight-match losing streak against LBSU and trails 66-8 in the all-time series records.
CSUN ON THE RADAR
- CSUN is 9-3 overall and has won four of the last five matches.
- The Matadors have faced three ranked teams and are receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
- Casey Hinger is averaging 3.15 kills per set to lead the team and is third in digs at 2.58.
- The Matadors are second in the conference in kills (13.77) and assists (12.70) and are third in hitting percentage at .243.
- The Matadors edge UCI 24-23 in the series annals and won both matches last year.
