
Lloyd Sicard Has Top UCI Finish at Big West Championships

DAVIS, Calif. --- Freshman Lloyd Sicard recorded the top finish Saturday for the UC Irvine men's track and field team at the Big West Conference Championships in Davis.
Sicard placed second in a close 110-meter hurdles race with a time of 14.01, third-fastest in Anteater history. He also picked up an additional team point with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (54.84).
Sophomore Cameron Vaca finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 52.94 and freshman Brandon Howard was fifth in 53.40.
Freshman Isaiah Thompson placed third in the 800 meters in 1:50.94 and senior Stephen Brown was third in the pole vault, tying his career-best mark of 16-6 ¾.
Senior James Douglas finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.63.
UCI's 4x100 relay of Mike Kennedy, Sicard, Howard and Douglas placed sixth with a time of 41.62.
The 4x400 relay of Vaca, Douglas, Howard and Sicard was seventh in 3:16.65.
UCI finished seventh in the team competition with 46 points at Toomey Field and Woody Wilson Track on the campus of UC Davis. Long Beach State won the meet with 218.50 points, Cal Poly was second with 144.50 and UC Davis third with 133.
The 'Eaters look to have several competitors in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Fayetteville, Ark., May 29-31.
