SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team finished seventh in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic that concluded Tuesday at Talking Stick Golf Club (North Course) in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Anteaters had a 54-hole score of 859 in the 21-team tournament. Oklahoma claimed the team title at 831 while BYU and Colorado tied for second at 838.
Michael Gellerman of Oklahoma earned medalist honors with a 6-under total of 204, including a 68 in the final round.
UCI junior Pete Fernandez claimed his fourth top-10 showing of the season as he tied for fourth place at 4-under 206 after shooting an even-par 70 Tuesday.
Freshman Ryan O'Connor shot a 73 and finished 35th at 216, junior Bhuvan Potluri (73) placed 46th at 218, senior Ryan Knapp (76) was 80th at 225 and sophomore Jacob Schulze (70) was 108th at 234.
A busy stretch continues for the 'Eaters, who compete in the 68th Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz Saturday and Sunday.
