
UCI Seniors Saluted at Big West Challenge Cup

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine won the 110 and 400-meter hurdles Friday night in the 22nd Big West Challenge Cup at Anteater Stadium.
Freshman Lloyd Sicard captured first place in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.22 and Brandon Howard, another freshman, won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.62.
Second-place finishes were recorded by James Douglas in the 200 meters (21.82), Isaiah Thompson in the 800 meters (1:50.64), Alex Tebbe in the 3,000 meters (8:36.70), Kyle Hubbard in the 400-meter hurdles (54.18) and Mason Miller in the shot put (55-0).
Miller placed third in the discus throw (160-2), as did the 4x400 relay of Cameron Vaca, Howard, Duane Solomon and Douglas in 3:16.21.
UCI totaled 89 points in the meet, which was won by Long Beach State with 194.50. UC Santa Barbara was second with 186.50 and Cal State Fullerton third with 139.
Five Anteater seniors were recognized before the start of the 4x400 relays: Stephen Brown, Douglas, Mike Kennedy, Amir Shirif and Andrew Snyder.
Next weekend features the 'Eaters competing at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational.
