OPENING SPRINTS

UC Irvine has three players with triple-digit career goals: Jessy Cardey (203), Hannah Croghan (146) and Danielle Warde (139).

McKenna Mitchell became the sixth Anteater with six goals in a match joining current 'Eaters Jessy Cardey and Hannah Croghan, and Erica Horman's seven-goal match from 2002.

Four Anteaters currently have 30+ goals led by Danielle Warde's 41. McKenna Mitchell also has 40 and is joined by Jessy Cardey (37) and Hannah Croghan (32) in the 30-goal club.

UCI has failed to score in five periods all season. It averages 11.5 goals per match.

UCI is allowing 6.20 goals per match including a 2.53 goals-against-average from Annika Nelson in 152 minutes.

POWER PLAYS

UC Irvine's win over No. 4 Arizona State matched the highest-ranked opponent UCI has defeated in the program's history. The 'Eaters upset No. 4 Hawaii in February of 2007, 10-4.

UCI had its highest finish in the UC Irvine Invitational finishing sixth.

The Anteaters have three wins in which they needed to overcome a halftime deficit. UCI beat UC Davis 8-5 after trailing 3-2 at the half, defeated SDSU 13-6 after trailing 5-4, and most recently came back from down 2-1 at Hawai'I to win 9-5.

KICKOUTS

UC Irvine captured Big West Player of the Week five times so far with Danielle Warde, Hannah Croghan, Jillian Yocum and McKenna Mitchell twice.

The Anteaters began the season ranked sixth in the nation and have been ranked as high as fifth. UCI finished 2013 ranked seventh in the nation with a record of 21-9.

UCI captured a share of the Big West regular season title in 2013, its fourth to match the four Big West Tournament titles.

CONFERENCE CLASH

UCI welcomes Big West play to Anteater Aquatics Complex for a Saturday afternoon battle with the 15th-ranked UC Davis Aggies

The Aggies are 11-13 and already 0-2 in Big West play with three-goal losses at home to UCSB and CSUN last weekend.

The 'Eaters and Aggies have already met twice in regular season play with UCI grabbing an 11-4 victory in the Stanford Invitational and then opening the UCI Invite with an 8-5 victory giving them 20 career wins over UCD and a 19-match win streak against the Aggies.

The Aggies schedule has included wins over Santa Clara, UCSB, and Indiana and narrow losses to Hawai'i, San Diego State, and Long Beach State.

Allyson Hansen paces the Aggies with 36 goals scored and a .486 shooting percentage while earning a team-high 49 exclusions and 23 steals.

Other Aggies with 20+ goals include Carla Tocchini (27), Hannah Curran (26), Keelia Houston (26), and Ariel Arcidiacono (21) who also leads with 26 assists.

Jillian Wilding has played 530 of the 768 minutes in the cage with an 8.90 goals-against-average, 119 saves, and 20 steals good for third on the squad.

In the two previous meetings, McKenna Mitchell scored seven of the 19 Anteater goals. Hanna Lancaster and Jessy Cardey each put up three. The last meeting also featured the 'Eaters trailing at halftime, 3-2, in one of their three wins they've earned when trailing at the midway point.

TROJANS ON TV

UCI's second matchup of the weekend features some history as the 'Eaters travel to Uytengsu Aquatics Center to face No. 1 USC in its first-ever televised match. Sunday, April 6 will feature UCI and USC at 3:00 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.

USC's 20-match win streak was snapped last game in a 9-5 loss at Stanford. The 2013 NCAA Champions also took the UCI Invitational in a 7-6 overtime thriller over UCLA in late February.

Monica Vavic's 54 goals lead the team. Freshman Stephania Haralabidis follows her with 43 goals along with six other Trojans that have converted 20 or more goals this season.

Flora Bolonyai has allowed 80 goals in 19 games played for a 4.70 goals-against-average in addition to her 164 saves in net.

The first meeting in the final of the UCSD Triton Invite in La Jolla ended in an 8-3 win for the Trojans and saw the pair tied at 1-1 after a period before USC pulled away. Bolonyai missed her season high by one hauling in 11 saves. Vavic scored three of her goals in the match. UCI got goals from Jessy Cardey and a pair from Hannah Croghan.

The five-goal loss was the second closest margin of defeat in the history between these two bested only by the 8-5 loss to USC in 2004.
