
Anteaters Finish Fifth In Big West, Record 19 wins

- UC Irvine finished in fifth place in the Big West at 9-7 and logged a 19-12 overall record.
- The 19 overall and nine conference wins are the second-most in head coach Paula Weishoff's six-year tenure.
- Weishoff improves to 82-98 with the Anteater program.
- She led UCI to a 22-8 overall record in her first season in 2009.
- The Anteaters won five straight for their longest win streak this year.
FIVE NAMED ALL-BIG WEST
- A quintet of Anteaters earned All-Big West Conference honors.
- Outside hitters Marisa Bubica, Allison Lee and Cassidy Pickrell were voted to the first team while setter Shelley Anderson and libero Arden Davis were named second-team selections.
- It is the first time that the program has had five Anteaters honored since 2007 and Weishoff's players have accumulated 18 all-conference awards during her leadership.
BUBICA GETS HAT TRICK
- Bubica becomes a three-time all-conference honoree.
- She ended the season tied for first in the Big West with a 4.12 kill average and second in points per set at 4.37.
- Bubica was voted to three all-tournament teams, including collecting an MVP title at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.
- She also owned a .296 hitting percentage to come in at No. 9 among the Big West leaders.
- She was third on the team with 342 kills.
PICKRELL, ANDERSON PICK UP PAIR
- Pickrell and Anderson both earned their second all-conference awards.
- Pickrell led the team in kills with 407 and totaled 43 aces to tie for ninth in the UCI single-season record books.
- Coming in at fourth in the Big West with a .37 clip, Pickrell was also fourth in the league in kill average at 3.51 and sixth in points at 4.07 per set.
- Anderson ended the year as the Big West leader in assist average at 10.87.
- She recorded 1,174 assists and is already in UCI's career records at No. 5 with 2,224.
LEE, DAVIS COME AWAY WITH FIRST AWARDS
- Lee and Davis received their first All-Big West nods in 2014.
- Lee ranked 10th in the Big West in kill average at 3.11 and in digs at 3.24.
- She led the conference in total aces with 44 and tied for second with a .38 ace average.
- She was one of three Anteaters to place in the top 10 in points per set and posted a 3.75 average.
- Davis paced the Big West leaders with a 4.44 dig average.
- With 515 digs, Davis finished seventh in the UCI single-season records.
- She posted 34 digs in a win against UC Santa Barbara to tie the fourth-best single-match mark.
BUBICA ENDS SEASON WITH WEEKLY AWARD
- Marisa Bubica double-dipped in the Big West awards bag after winning the season's final Big West Player of the Year award.
- The outside hitter put away 24 kills and tied a career-high with a .455 hitting percentage to lead UCI to a 3-1 upset of CSUN last week.
- Bubica did not make the start but ended the match by punctuating the victory with a match-ending cross-court winner in the final frame.
ANTEATERS IN THE RECORD BOOKS
- Anderson's 1,174 assists put her at No. 8 spot in the UCI single-season records.
- Davis finished in the top 10 at No. 7 in the single-season annals with 515 digs.
- Lee and Pickrell both made their marks in the record books for aces with Lee tying for eighth with 44 and Pickrell tying for 10th with 43.
- Arielle Manz finished her collegiate career at No. 10 with 250 block assists
NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Lee, who led the Big West in total aces, finished the year ranked 31st the country.
- Pickrell finished behind Lee ranked 34th.
- The pair are 49th and 55th in aces per set, respectively.
- Anderson came in at 45th in the nation in assist average (10.87) and 65th in total assists.
- Bubica averaged 4.12 kills per set to rank 46th and was 67th in points per set.
LEE TIES SEASON HIGH
- Lee ended her season on a high, putting away 17 kills to tie a season-best.
- The senior also totaled 12 digs to record her 18th career double-double.
FUTURE GLIMPSE
- The Anteaters, who lose four seniors off the roster, will return four of the five all-conference honorees next season with Lee the lone all-conference senior.
